• Participating is easy and only takes a few steps:

    1. Register in less than 5 minutes using this form.

    2. Describe your project, list five materials and upload images.

    3. Save your application anytime and continue later.

    4. Pay the submission fee, and you’re in!

    • Year of Completion: Projects should be completed between 2000 and 2026.

    • Project Location: Europe and The UK

    • Project Type: All project typologies are accepted and should be submitted in one of two categories:

      • New-built

      • Adaptative Reuse

  • The competition is open to architects, architecture studios, and interior architecture firms based in Europe and the UK.

    To qualify, participants must submit a completed project that has already been built in Europe or the UK and list up to 5 sustainable materials used.

    Projects can be of any type or scale.

  • The goal of the competition is to highlight the ability of architects to implement local and sustainable materials in outstanding architectural projects.

    After the competition your work will be featured on MARCH, the digital hub for architecture & sustainable construction materials. Project images will be published and linked to their sustainable materials and key stakeholders (architect, suppliers, contractor, photographer).

    By joining, you will:

    • Gain Life-long visibility in Europe’s sustainable architecture scene.

    • Connect with top sustainable architects and material pioneers.

    • Become part of a mission-driven platform that helps architects implement sustainable materials.

  • Each project should specify at least 1 and up to 5 (benchmark) sustainable materials. However, there is no limit to how many materials you list.

    Materials are categorised in the following categories:

    • Bio-based: made from renewable natural materials  

    • Circular: reused, reclaimed, repurposed, upcycled, recycled or designed for reuse

    • Local: regionally sourced materials

    Participants can list and categorise materials easy and fast on the website.

  • Submissions will be judged based on design and materials. For materials specifically, we judge on innovation, amount of low-carbon vs conventional materials (specified in the form).

    The design, materials and their sustainability will be judged by our jury of experts. The jury panel is selected for their expertise in design and material knowledge. They supports progress, not perfection.

    Projects with both conventional and sustainable materials are welcome.

  • MARCH is the first visual search engine for sustainable materials in construction founded in 2025 by Marie Roels and Belén Martínez.The company is on a mission to promote great architecture that is built with better materials. More than an Award, MARCH is a space for a new generation of construction professionals and creatives. To celebrate great architecture, real material learnings, and a strong network of designers and creatives who care about building a better world.

  • Each image must be no larger than 2MB and 25 megapixels (maximum 6000 × 4000 pixels). There is no limit to the number of images you can upload.

  • Images and project info will be published by March Materials UG on its online platform and social media channels with proper credit to both the architecture firm, material suppliers and the photographer.

    You can submit images with or without copyright. If you do not hold the copyright, we require you to obtain permission from the copyright holder to allow March Materials UG to publish the images on its online platform.

    On social media channels, images will be used for content related to the competition.

  • March does not provide physical samples, but you can connect with suppliers or their local counterparts and access their material samples or order a consultation with the sales teams.

  • March Platform is an online dashboard where you can upload, save, and explore architectural projects for inspiration. The March Competition is a design contest that highlights and rewards innovative architectural work.
